Colombian Finca El Diviso Washed Gesha Coffee BeansCoffee Bean Intro:

At the 2022 World Coffee Championships (WBC), Anthony Douglas from Australia used beans from Finca El Diviso to clinch the championship title. This victory catapulted Finca El Diviso into the spotlight, sparking widespread online discussions about the farm. Finca El Diviso is located in Huila, one of Colombia’s most renowned coffee-growing regions, at an altitude of approximately 1,700 meters.

Jose Uribe Lasso established the farm in 1996, with most of the core team consisting of family members and friends. They focus on producing specialty coffee, maintaining standardized management to ensure consistent quality across each batch. Now, 27 years later, the farm is managed by his son, Nestor, who is young and passionate about coffee. He strives for excellence in coffee processing and leads his family team in continuously exploring new possibilities for coffee.

Finca El Diviso is currently primarily managed by Nestor Lasso, a young and driven individual. His grandfather introduced him to the grand world of coffee, and his father inherited the farm, excelling in coffee cultivation. Influenced by his family, Nestor continuously refines his coffee growing and processing techniques, cultivating twelve varieties including Caturra, Colombia, Sidra, Castillo, Gesha, and Bourbon.

Nestor’s family collectively manages the farm. As the quality of their coffee beans continues to improve, so does their return. They have successfully built a new large-scale farm, growing and producing even higher-quality coffee beans, striving to become a great family-owned estate.

For Nestor, Finca El Diviso is a fortunate new beginning. He believes that the land in Huila is incredibly fertile, and anyone who works hard can escape poverty by cultivating coffee on this nutrient-rich soil.

With the arrival of the new season, Prior has also introduced the Gesha coffee beans from Finca El Diviso. This Gesha is traditionally washed processed. To enhance its floral and fruity aromas, Prior opts for a medium-light roast to highlight its rich layers.

Region Intro:

Colombia is the world's third-largest coffee exporter, mainly producing Arabica coffee, and it is also the country that exports the most Arabica beans. Colombia is rich in products; in particular, coffee, flowers, gold and emeralds are known as the "four treasures." Colombia is located in the northwest of the South American continent, bordering Panama in Central America. Seen from an overhead view, its western side looks as if it has been scratched by a cat; from north to south, it leaves three vertical claw marks. The country's famous producing regions are scattered among these Andes mountain ranges with fertile volcanic soil.

Brewing Tips:

Dripper: V60 Water Temperature: 90-91°C Coffee Grounds: 15g Coffee-to-Water Ratio: 1:15 Grind Size: Fine sugar-like (20-mesh sieve, 78% extraction) Three-Stage Extraction: Place the coffee grounds into the V60 dripper, wet the coffee bed with twice the amount of water, bloom for 30 seconds, then pour with a small stream in a circular motion from the inside out until reaching 125g for the first stage. Once the coffee bed drops to about half the height of the dripper, continue pouring with the same fine stream for the second stage up to 225g. Allow all the coffee to fully drip through, taking about 2 minutes total (±10 seconds).
