Guatemala is located in Central America, boasting a uniquely advantageous geographical environment, connected to North America in the north and bordering South America in the south. Facing the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico, its climate is relatively hot and humid, and it has long been one of the world’s important coffee-producing regions.

Guatemala is tropical, with many volcanoes within its borders. The northern and eastern coastal plains have a tropical rainforest climate, while the southern mountainous areas have a subtropical climate. The year is divided into dry and wet seasons, with the wet season from May to October and the dry season from November to April of the following year. The northeastern region receives annual precipitation of 2,000–3,000 mm, while the southern region receives 500–1,000 mm.

  *Nuevo Oriente (New Oriente)

The Nuevo Oriente region is the youngest of Guatemala’s eight coffee-growing regions. It receives abundant rainfall and is perpetually shaded by clouds. In ancient times, it was a volcanic area, and its soil consists of metamorphic rocks, which are rich in minerals.

  Little Blueberry Estate (El Morita)

The Little Blueberry Estate is one of the highest-altitude and most outstanding farms in all of Guatemala. The farm owner professionally manages the plantation, challenging the limits by growing coffee at 2300 meters and pushing the boundary where higher-altitude Arabica cultivation yields better flavor. In recent years, it has demonstrated exceptional strength in various competitions.

Due to its extremely high elevation, the farm can only be reached by crossing two layers of clouds. The cold climate nurtures exceptionally resilient fruit, giving rise to outstanding coffee flavors.

The estate grows varieties such as Pache San Ramon, Catuaí, Bourboon, Maragogipe, Pacamara, Maracatu, and Geisha. The farm owner plants different varieties in separate sections of the farm, each with slightly varying flavor profiles.

The estate is also an award-winning farm in the COE (Cup of Excellence) competition:

  2013 Cup of Excellence – 2nd Place

  2014 Cup of Excellence – 3rd Place

  2015 Cup of Excellence – 2nd Place

  2016 Cup of Excellence – 9th Place

  2017 Cup of Excellence – 4th Place

  2018 Cup of Excellence – 5th Place

The honey process is a modified version of the natural (sun-dried) method. Its primary difference from the natural process is that the outer skin and pulp are removed before drying, and the drying is carried out while retaining the mucilage layer.

Pacamara is a hybrid of Pacas and Maragogype, discovered in El Salvador in 1950. First cultivated by Salvadoran researchers in 1958, the Pacamara variety is a rare and outstanding artificially bred cultivar. It combines the excellent flavor profile of the Pacas variety with the large bean size of the Maragogype, with beans being at least 70%–80% the size of elephant beans. The most distinctive characteristics of this variety are its vibrant and complex acidity, sometimes reminiscent of biscuit notes and other times of fruity aromas, along with excellent body and richness.

Region Intro:

The New Oriente region is the youngest coffee-producing region among Guatemala's eight major regions. It has abundant rainfall and is under cloud shade for much of the year. In ancient times it was a volcanic area, and the soil here is made up of metamorphic rock, and therefore contains rich minerals. Before it began growing coffee, the New Oriente region was once the poorest area in Guatemala. Since the 1950s, farmers in the mountains have relied on this natural, nutrient-rich land to begin coffee cultivation, and slowly this place gradually came back to life. It has now become a rising star in Guatemala's coffee-growing industry.
