Honduras Laurel Estate Washed ParainemaCoffee Bean Intro:
Laurel Estate (El Laurel) is located near Danli City in El Paraiso Province, one of the six major producing regions in southern Honduras, in the mountainous area to the northwest.

The Laurel Estate is planted at an altitude of 1400 meters, with an annual rainfall of about 2000 mm in this region. The region’s exceptional geographical and climatic conditions make Honduras well-suited for producing high-quality coffee.
After participating in the Honduras Cup of Excellence (CoE) competition in 2017, Laurel Estate won the championship with an impressive score of 91.81. It also broke the historical bidding record with prices of $124.50 and $122.90 per pound.
The estate owner, Oscar Daniel Ramirez Valerio, was given half a hectare of land by his father to grow crops. Later, the owner purchased additional land, which now makes up the entire planting area of Laurel Estate.
The estate is managed by the owner and his wife. During the harvest season, the owner hires 10 to 15 employees, and his son also helps when he has time.

Coffee Varieties
The variety that won the championship for Laurel Estate that year, "Parainema," is one of the laboratory-cultivated varieties.
Parainema is a hybrid developed through laboratory breeding, derived from the Sarchimor T5296 cross. It boasts high resistance to leaf rust and pests, with a robust nature yet offering delicate flavor variations.

Parainema coffee trees are small and compact in appearance, with new top leaves in green. The coffee beans are larger and slender in shape.
At first glance, the spelling of Parainema may resemble Pacamara, but they are completely unrelated.
"Para" means resistant, and "Nema" refers to Nematodes (nematodes), indicating that the Parainema variety has resistance to coffee nematodes. Coupled with its Sarchimor T5296 lineage, this variety can resist leaf rust. Its disease resistance is particularly important in a region plagued by leaf rust.

Coffee Grade
Honduran coffee bean grades are primarily based on altitude.
S : Standard grade, planted at altitudes between 610 and 915 meters
HG : High Grown grade, planted at altitudes between 915 and 1220 meters
SHG: Strictly High Grown grade, planted at altitudes above 1221 meters
This Laurel Estate coffee is planted at 1400 meters, belonging to the SHG grade.
Roast Curve

Region Intro:
At an altitude of 1100-1400 m, it is dominated by a gentle fruity acidity, with caramel aroma and a balanced mouthfeel.
Brewing Tips:
Recommended brewing method: pour-over Parameters: water temperature: 90-91°C; grind size: medium-fine (80% passing through a 20-mesh sieve according to Chinese standards); coffee-to-water ratio: 1:15; use a segmented extraction method. Start with a 30g bloom for 30 seconds; pour water in small streams centered until reaching 125g, then increase water flow as the bed nears exposure to reach 225g, and remove the filter when the bed is about to be exposed again. (Start timing from the bloom.) Extraction time should be between 2:00 and 2:10.
