Ruiru 11 — Kenya answered the 1968 coffee berry disease epidemic, which cost about half the national crop, with this compact composite. Bred at Ruiru from a Catimor female crossed with a multi-cross male population, its dense habit suits intensive planting and it bears early.
Clean and easy-drinking, with citrus and light red-fruit acidity and a moderate, round sweetness.
Pour-over at 91-93 °C, 1:15, medium grind, staged pours, balancing body against fruit acidity.
