Shares its parentage with Marsellesa - Timor Hybrid 832/2 x Villa Sarchi - but was selected in Brazil by the Instituto Agronomico (IAC), released in 2000 and taken to commercial scale in Costa Rica by ICAFE in 2014. Its reddish young shoots give it the common name. Citrus, red apple and caramel sweetness with soft acidity and a smooth, forgiving cup.
