It is understood that Costa Rica is a country with abundant water and geothermal resources, and it also places great emphasis on agricultural development. It is a major global exporter of pineapples, bananas, and coffee, and is highly dependent on the use of water resources.

In addition, water pollution issues are currently affecting drinking water and agriculture. For the problem of drinking water contamination, the remedial measure is to supply water to affected areas using water tankers, due to concerns about potential health risks from consumption. Furthermore, the country’s agricultural department is concerned that xylene-contaminated water entering the soil could have toxic effects on the soil and plants, damaging the ecological environment of the soil. Additionally, La Niña weather conditions may return again in the second half of the year, which could bring severe weather such as droughts to Costa Rica, potentially further exacerbating water shortages and ultimately affecting the quality and yield of agricultural crops such as coffee.
