Recently, extreme weather has continued to affect the globe, primarily due to the influence of El Niño. Multiple meteorological experts have stated that the entire year of 2023 was an El Niño year, which typically leads to a rise in global temperatures the following year, resulting in more frequent and intense extreme climate events.

The return of La Niña will lead to widespread and sustained abnormal cooling of sea surface temperatures in the eastern and central equatorial Pacific. This will affect the yields of agricultural products such as coffee in multiple countries.
For Vietnam, El Niño weather has been affecting coffee growth throughout the 2024/25 season. Reduced rainfall and drought in the Central Highlands region have led to suboptimal coffee flowering in April, ultimately impacting coffee yields in the coming season. Additionally, La Niña will increase rainfall in Southeast Asia, potentially triggering floods, landslides, and other disruptions that could damage local farmland and crops.
La Niña will also bring drought to Central Africa, while Southern Africa will experience flooding, affecting the coffee and other agricultural industries in multiple African countries, and potentially leading to severe food shortages in African nations.

In addition, it may lead to frequent hurricane disasters in Central America, or issues such as floods. Besides affecting local production, it may also damage local infrastructure and impact transportation and logistics.
