According to Brazilian media reports, the state of Sao Paulo has suffered severe fire disasters in recent times, so the Civil Defense of Sao Paulo issued a warning, pointing out that almost the entire state still faces a high risk of fire threat, all because of the current high temperatures.
Earlier, on August 25, the government of the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil, stated that the state of Sao Paulo was in a "high alert" state, with 46 cities entering a 180-day state of emergency. According to records for the state of Sao Paulo, between August 22 and 24, there were a total of 2,600 fire hotspots, of which 81.29% were concentrated on agricultural land, such as sugarcane plantations, coffee estates and livestock farms.

At present, police are investigating the fire incidents in the state of Sao Paulo and suspect that some of them may have been deliberately set by people, and 7 people have now been arrested on suspicion of arson. In addition, because Brazil is still experiencing high temperatures, along with strong winds (up to 60 km per hour), a lack of rainfall and low relative air humidity, the fire risk will be intensified.
Open flames in many places in the state of Sao Paulo have now been basically extinguished, but due to the high fire risk, the situation remains worrying, so the supporting troops are still on standby. According to estimates by the Sao Paulo State Department of Agriculture and Supply, this wave of fires has already caused about 1 billion reais (about 182 million US dollars) in losses to agricultural production activities in the state of Sao Paulo. This figure is based only on preliminary data from 20 of the 40 regions under the state's Technical Assistance Coordination Office, so the actual losses are even greater.

According to reports, the fires not only destroyed native vegetation but also burned at least 80,000 hectares of crops, including sugarcane fields, coffee estates, agricultural research centers and various crops in rural areas, and many agricultural facilities, rural farmhouses and crops were damaged.
In addition, an agronomist said that the real loss is the natural environment itself, with trees burned, causing severe damage to the ecosystem, and it will take about three years to partially recover. The fires have also severely affected the local beekeeping industry, with millions of bees dying because they cannot withstand the smoke and high temperatures, causing losses to honey production. And because the area has been reduced to ashes, the surviving bees cannot find food, while coffee production may drop sharply, because in addition to being destroyed, when the trees are about to enter the flowering period they will face a situation with no bees to pollinate them.

Recently, since Brazil is the world's largest coffee producer, the drought and fires in the coffee-producing regions of southeastern Brazil have attracted much market attention, and have continued to drive coffee prices higher.
As September approaches, Brazil's Arabica flowering season is about to arrive, but currently multiple coffee-producing regions in Brazil have reported drought conditions. Several coffee-producing regions in Brazil have had no meaningful rainfall in the past 120 days, which is unfavorable for coffee trees to flower, and Sao Paulo state has suffered its worst fires in decades, causing most vegetation to be destroyed, thereby affecting next year's production.

According to forecasts from local meteorological departments in Brazil, a new wave of heat is expected in the coming period, and weather in Brazil's coffee-growing regions remains unfavorably dry, with rainfall also below normal levels. As a result, arabica futures prices may rise to 300 US cents/lb, while robusta has now broken through 5000 USD/tonne and may remain at high levels in the future.
