It is reported that the Ethiopian federal government, in an effort to prevent local armed conflicts and to build a strong federal army, has incorporated local militias from all 11 regional states into the federal forces.

Although, according to data from the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority (ECTA), in the first nine months of the fiscal year (starting July 2023), Ethiopia’s coffee exports reached 174,000 metric tons, generating total export revenue of $835.2 million, the highest for the same period in history.

In addition, Ethiopia is a landlocked country and relies on the port of Djibouti, a neighboring country, for both exports and imports. However, the route to the port is a high-risk area, and due to the impending war, some regions will block the routes.

In addition, Ethiopia has officially confirmed that the Cup of Excellence will be held this July. Currently, over 600 samples have arrived at the regional warehouse awaiting evaluation.

Moreover, the entire country of Ethiopia is currently classified as a high-risk or above area, which has significantly deterred many coffee traders and green coffee scouts from traveling there, hindering the development of the country's coffee industry.
