Sumatra Robusta exports down 51.5% in October
In terms of monthly export volume, Indonesia’s coffee exports in September amounted to 7,187.36 tons. Compared to September, Indonesia’s coffee exports in October surged significantly.
For a long time, Indonesia’s coffee export data has shown significant fluctuations. The following is a comparison of monthly data between 2021 and 2020:

Vietnam’s Central Highlands, the country’s largest Robusta-producing region, has been hit by persistent heavy rainfall, forcing a delay in coffee harvesting. The continuous downpours have also led to increased fruit drop, negatively affecting yields.
For a long time, logistics disruptions and transportation difficulties will further affect the supply and delivery of new-season coffee beans.

The certified stocks of arabica at ICE warehouses dropped 9.1% this month, while robusta inventories fell to their lowest level in a year, down 4.9%. Robusta coffee futures remain in contango, with near-term prices higher than forward prices. Some traders speculate on whether Vietnam, a major robusta producer, will eventually ship out its growing backlog of unexported coffee.
