The flavor potential of green beans needs the right pouring rhythm to be awakened. Every single-origin coffee bean has its own cell density and roasting performance. As long as you clarify its original flavor tendencies and adjust water temperature, coffee-to-water ratio and pouring rhythm accordingly, you can clearly taste in the cup the wonderful aromas and layers conferred by the origin.

Sun-dried Ethiopian beans often have rich fruit sweetness and a light fermented aroma. Qianjie Ethiopia Huakui, once ground, gives off a captivating fragrance of tropical fruit and ripe strawberry. To amplify its berry-like sweetness and keep the overall clarity, a gentler water temperature and a steady flow are suitable during brewing.

When brewing Huakui, a water temperature of 89°C is recommended, using 15g of coffee grounds with a total water volume of 225ml. Use a three-stage pour: first pour 30ml of hot water for a 30-second bloom, then steadily pour in circles to 130ml, and after the liquid level in the dripper drops by more than half, pour to 225ml and stop, with the total time controlled at 2 minutes 05 seconds. The slightly gentler temperature retains the strawberry and passion fruit aromas, making the fruity sweetness especially smooth.

If you prefer a refreshing floral and herbal tea note with citrus-like sweet acidity, Qianjie Kafa Forest is a very charming choice. This bean has both a sweet orange-like freshness and apricot flavor, with a comfortable oolong tea note in the finish. The overall flavor profile is relatively soft and clear, and it needs a smooth extraction rhythm to show its elegant texture.

For the elegant character of Kafa Forest, a water temperature of 90°C and a 1:16 coffee-to-water ratio are recommended. Weigh 15g of coffee grounds and pour in 240ml of hot water. Use a two-stage pour: first bloom with 40ml of hot water for 35 seconds to fully degas, then pour in a steady medium flow in continuous circles to 240ml, with the total time controlled at 1 minute 55 seconds. The smooth drainage rhythm allows the bright orange aroma and tea-like sweet aftertaste to unfold layer by layer as the coffee goes from warm to cool.

For coffee lovers who enjoy full, juicy coffee with three-dimensional acidity and strong flavor, Qianjie Kenya Little Tomato can bring an especially deep sensory experience. This bean shows distinct cherry tomato and smoked plum flavors, accompanied by a warm brown sugar sweetness. The bean is hard and dense, requiring sufficient extraction power to release its flavor compounds.

When brewing Kenya Little Tomato, it is recommended to set the water temperature at 91°C, using 16g of coffee grounds with 240ml of water. Use a three-stage pour to enhance the layers: 35ml of water for a 30-second bloom, a second stage with a large central flow poured to 140ml to agitate the coffee bed, and a third stage with a small flow along the outer edge to top up to 240ml, with the total time controlled at 2 minutes 15 seconds. The coffee liquid extracted this way has a full juicy texture and a clean, crisp finish.

Designing brewing parameters according to the aroma characteristics and the distribution of sweetness and acidity of the coffee beans is the core of what makes pour-over coffee so enjoyable. When encountering beans rich in aromatic compounds and with prominent sweetness, appropriately lowering the water temperature and agitation intensity yields a pure, gentle sweetness; while for beans with a dense structure and abundant acidity, a slightly higher water temperature and staged extraction can fully release a full juicy feel.

The charm of pour-over lies in how the flavor in the cup changes subtly with every small adjustment to the pour. Once you master the logic connecting water temperature, water volume and time, and tailor a brewing plan to the unique personality of each single-origin bean, you can easily enjoy a wonderfully layered, aroma-filled coffee experience at your own counter.
