Recently, Colombia’s coffee industry has been facing a series of challenges and threats, including issues related to pricing, weather, and the political system.

Coffee production in Colombia has long been dominated by small-scale farms. To protect the interests of these smallholder coffee farmers, the Colombian Coffee Federation was established in 1920 at the initiative of the growers. Over time, it evolved into the more authoritative and standardized National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia (National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia), abbreviated as FNC.
