Currently, Brazil has begun harvesting new-season coffee beans, particularly Robusta beans.

In addition, due to the tight global coffee supply, reduced production in Vietnam, and the Red Sea crisis extending logistics time and costs between Europe and Asia, demand for Brazilian coffee has significantly increased, which has also led to growth in Brazilian coffee exports.

According to local Brazilian coffee exporters and the Brazilian Coffee Exporters Council (Cecafé), Brazil’s coffee exports for the 2023/24 season are expected to reach 46.3 million bags (60 kg per bag), setting a new historical record. They also believe that Brazil’s supply can fill the gap left by reduced output in countries such as Vietnam and Indonesia.

According to data from Cecafé, Brazil’s coffee exports reached 39.3 million bags by April in the 2023/24 harvest season. However, with prices rising in May and June, local Brazilian farms and traders are expected to accelerate their coffee bean sales further, potentially setting a new record.

Currently, polar air masses have reached southern Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil and are moving toward the central-western region. For higher-altitude areas in Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, minimum temperatures could reach minus 1°C to minus 2°C, with possible frost.

In March this year, the European Union announced plans to postpone the implementation of the deforestation-free regulation (EUDR) and to classify countries into risk categories, providing more adaptation time according to the category.
